Circles, Cycles, Spirals and Feedback Loops

You may be familiar with magic circles and sewing circles and the cycles of nature.

You may be part of a revolutionary knitting circle as a tactical tricoteuse, awaiting the democratic deposition of charlatan politicians.

You may associate craftivism with craftiness and/or witchcraft and/or triviality.

What is a craft?

What is activism?

Whether you are a guerilla gardener or yarn bomber or peace protester or climate protestor how do you assess the effectiveness of your efforts in making the world a much better place than it would be without you?

What have you actually been observing?

Is it nature or politics or both?

How well do you observe a great piece of turf and/or a great piece of art?

How well do you respond to ridiculous assessments of tragedies?

When do you regard tactical frivolity as necessary?

How (else) do you attempt to influence the direction of societal change?

What do you know about spirals of silence?

What do you know about feedback loops?

You may have already received the official welcome from Madame Adélaïde on behalf of the committee.  She wishes you to recall the year 1756, not 1789, particularly as Bastille Day always makes her very nervous indeed.

Yet Madame Adélaïde must prepare for COP 26 as carefully as circumstances allow.  The ignorant women with their knitting and gossip have nothing to contribute but their macabre curiosity.

What do you intend to contribute?
